Vendors disagree on rally trademarks effect
Vendor numbersRumors that vendors won’t attend the 71st Sturgis rally Aug. 7-13 because of the trademarking of names by Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Inc., have been swirling in the vendor community.
So far, however, vendor registration is on track, said Fay Bueno, Sturgis finance officer. Pre-registration numbers are 71, which is on track with past years. Most vendors don’t pre-register and will obtain their vendor licenses in the days before the rally, she said.
Bueno said for the 70th rally last year, total vendor numbers were 751.
Bueno said none of the vendors who have contacted her office have voiced concern over the trademark debate.
