The clue took her to the library's juvenile biographies section, where Mira was soon joined by other children who came to a "Harry Potter" party held at Southwest Regional Library Wednesday. The children hunted down envelopes that librarians had placed in different sections of the library, and each envelope had a different clue. They may not have found a horcrux -- in author J.K. Rowling's "Potter" series, a device in which evil lord Voldemort hid a part of his soul -- but the children learned their way around the book stacks. Elley Shelp-Peck, 11, dressed as Hermione Granger, said she first learned about the books when a third-grade teacher read one to her class. She became a fan quickly. "My mom was angry at me because I would carry two of the books in my backpack," Elley said. When her mom suggested she leave one at home, Elley replied that she might finish one and want to get on with the next title. Amy Godfrey, the children's services manager at Southwest Regional, was dressed as the character Tonks, and led the potion-making class -- in which she used purple cabbage juice, vinegar, baking soda and milk of magnesia to teach a basic science lesson. The "Potter" books not only encouraged more children to read, the series also drew more attention to fiction for children and young adults, Godfrey said. Greater attention led to more awareness that there's "a lot of great literature being written for this age group," she said.

Clue Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Edition Game Review ...

My son and I are both big Harry Potter fans. I’ve been reading the books since they came out many years ago, and my son’s been a fan since he started reading chapter books a few years back. In fact we have all the books, and my son’s read some of them a couple times. We’ve watched all of the movies, and have them all in our DVD collection, except the latest. We’re hoping to check Deathly Hallows out at the theater this weekend!

He’s super excited for anything Harry Potter, so as soon as we got the new Clue Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows edition by Hasbro in our mailbox of course we had to sit down and play it. That day! We love board games at our house, so we’re already familiar with the standard Clue game. The Harry Potter version featured manyof the locations from the books, including Hogwarts Castle, The forbidden Forest, The Hog’s Head, 12 Grimmauld Place, Gringetts, the Ministry of Magic and more.

In the game players can be their favorite characters from the movie, including Harry, Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Ron, or Nevelle. My son of course was Harry, and I chose Hermione. A student from Hogwarts has gone missing, the object of the game is to solve the mystery. Where did the attack occur? Who did it? Which weapon or spell did they use?

During the game players go from location to location by moving the number you roll on the dice, or you can use a pinch Floo Powder if you have it to move to any location with a lit fireplace.

Watch out for the Dark Mark! If turn the wheel, or roll the Dark Mark on the dice you have to draw from the Dark Deck and it’s going to cost you Floo Powder unless you have a Help Card to save you.

Once you think you have the mystery solved, enter the Burrow and make your accusations, but be careful! If you’re wrong you’re out of the game.

Was it wrong that I did a happy dance when I solved the mystery and won the game? He came back and beat me the second time. He was a much more gracious winner. We had a blast playing the game all afternoon. Harry Potter Clue is definitely added to our Friday night game night line up.
