«Thanks Outside Online Facebook Contest Voters!
Hey Chattanooga! You did a phenomenal job on the voting for Outside Magazine’s “Best Town Ever” Facebook contest. According to the numbers, Chattanooga beat Tuscon, AZ by 1,500 votes. Now, the Outside editors get together and look at several subjective reasons to choose one town over another. The outcome will be a big secret until the October issue of Outside hits newsstands in early Sept. Good job, everyone!
«Bike2Work Welcomes Sen. Berke July 1
The monthly Bike2Work breakfast will welcome TN State Sen. Andy Berke on Fri., July 1, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the South end of the Walnut St. Bridge. Sen. Berke will announce the July 1 implementation of Tennessee’s new “Due Care” law, which significantly strengthens penalties for motor vehicle operators who hit pedestrians and cyclists. Join us for Velo Coffee Roasters brew, Julie Darling Donuts and special prizes from River City Bicycles. «Hiwassee River Beginner Kayak Trip July 9
Join Outdoor Chattanooga’s Rapid Learning Whitewater Club for a day long kayaking trip on the Hiwassee River on Sat., July 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The beginner-friendly Hiwassee offers whitewater paddlers loads of opportunities to try out new skills or brush up on some rusty ones. Outdoor Chattanooga’s ACA-certified staff will guide beginners through basic paddle strokes and skills like ferries, eddy turns and peel-outs, and self rescues. Participants do not have to know how to roll, but should have paddled a whitewater kayak on flat water at least once. The Rapid Learning Whitewater Club will not host roll practice on Tues., July 5. Regularly-scheduled practices will resume on July 12.

The afternoon and evening bring more entertainment, including the auction at 4:30 pm, USO Show at 5:30, music by Somebody's Darling at 6 pm, music by Scrapyard at 7:30 and music by Friendly Fire at 8:30. Fireworks will conclude the Saturday activities

For a mere ten bucks, this experience was way worth it. As for my review of the movie, it was SO GOOD!!!! If you're a fan of Pooh, you'll love this movie. The story is absolutely darling, and I was laughing and smiling a lot. If you watch it, stay through the credits for a little clip at the end! Although I already saw this movie a week in advanced, I still plan to see it again, if not opening day!
