New home decor business opens in Gibson City
GIBSON CITY— A new country and home décor store has opened in downtown Gibson City.
Market Street General Store, 122 N. Sangamon Ave., opened recently and is owned by Teri Hancock of Paxton.
Although small in size, the new business is filled to the rafters with a wide range of home decor, with country primitive being the main focus. The store also has gourmet foods and coffee; silk arrangements; gift baskets; cemetery arrangements; candles and live plants.
Hancock plans to add a baby gift line in the near future.
Hancock also owns the Market Street General Store/Picket Fence in Paxton, but said the two stores are different. The Paxton store opened in 1995 and is currently going through a facelift to change the look and the product offerings.
The Gibson City store is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The business is closed every day from 1 to 1:30 p.m. for lunch.

Primitive Americana - Abstract Art
I was wondering if anyone had experience in making these products and if so could you refer me to a good website or book that would help me in starting. I decorated my living room in this style and spent way too much money and decided that I want to learn to make them myself in the future. I found a few sites that were helpful but I was looking for free patterns just to try out and see if I can even do it (I dont really know how to sew, though I am going to teach myself) Any help would be appreciated.
I have noticed items people were selling by going to free photo or image websites like photobucket.com You can get ideas from there.
Also, check on e-bay and amazon.com to see if they offer any books or DVDs.
